Madesociety Performing Artists Workshop (recap)

there has always been this running undercurrent amongst local performing artists in the 757, least since our industry hey-day’s around ‘01-04. a host of demographics from population incomes, resources, networking opportunities and even physical space lie as hinderances to a performing artists ability to establish a “well” paid career. lets be humble and honest….not everyone is going to be topping the charts and making millions on millions annually. but it should be offered forth towards artists that it is very possible to become a regional act that can command say sub-$60k a year. This amount wont bring trips to france and the islands every year, but you are a creative making a living off of your talent. and to achieve this…we all have to come out of our shells. time to get outside, try new methods, gain new skillsets. the need to synergize our silo’d nature of the local scene is dire. if you take a look; a lot of us have professionalized ourselves within the past few years. the services, talent and product offerings have improved. experiencs like workshops and networking events are touchpoints that help further this mission.

so there it is. madesociety workshop is our offering to the local scene. just trying something out. seeing if we can bring new connections, projects or ideas to the forefront. funny thing is that sometimes when you just get into it, no planning; it turns out better. so stay tuned. there’s a lot of ways this can go.
